Getting the Job Done: Global Climate Goals and the Energy Transition Workforce
Wednesday, September 21 | 3:00 p.m. ET
More than ever, capacity development — building the human and institutional talent to do the work — is a critical priority in global climate action and sustainable development. Not nearly enough people possess the skills and know-how to drive action on international climate goals and a just transition, particularly in the Global South. We need to scale solutions that address this challenge immediately—or all the political will and 1.5C° aligned finance in the world will get us nowhere. People are the engine of the energy transition, and RMI is redoubling its investments in people through a series of commitments to make workforce and capacity development a priority in all our engagements, especially throughout the Global South. Among these investments are the Energy Transition Academy and our acquisition of the Clean Power Hub—an innovative skills-development platform that complements and accelerates all of RMI's work on workforce and capacity development. These efforts will complement and accelerate the important work of our many global partners, but much more needs to be done to meet 1.5C ° goals. Join RMI's Energy Transition Academy to discuss a critical bottleneck to a just transition to clean energy – an urgent shortfall in the global energy workforce – and what international partners need to do about it. This event will take place via Zoom. An email confirmation will be sent containing the Zoom link to join.
